The other day when I was out walking for Constantine, the lyrics to an old Proclaimers song popped into my head.
“but I would walk 500 miles
and I would walk 500 more
to be the man
who walked a thousand miles
to fall down at your door”
This campaign season, I’ve sure done a lot of walking. And with 27 days left in the campaign I’m well on my way to 500 miles.
Last week , I started walking nightly with a few people from the office. We walk from 5-7pm every night. On Friday, Carissa took time out of her busy schedule campaigning for Feeney and joined us on our walk. Then on Saturday morning, she stopped by the office to pick up brochures so she could coordinate her walk with Feeney. What a trooper!
On Saturday, I walked another large chunk- at least a couple of miles. And when it was over, I was literally exhausted- from the heat and all the exercise that all I could do was go home Saturday afternoon and crash until Sunday morning.
Yesterday, I was back out and raring to go. And I’m committed to being out every night until the election. Who knows? Maybe, I log 500 miles. And if I don’t it’ll be close enough.
